Zurka Sponsors UVA Women's Ice Hockey

The Women's Ice Hockey Club at the University of Virginia (UVA) is a club sport team comprised of about 15 students who love ice hockey and competing in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference. Since it is a club and does not classify as a varsity sport, the team is eligible to receive limited funding from UVA. Members rely on donations and fundraisers to help support the team’s activities. Expenses for the team include transportation, room, and board fees for away games and tournaments; jerseys and other team equipment;  the cost of ice time; and referee fees.

This year's team needed new jerseys, and they were open to the idea of sponsored advertising to help cover the cost. Zurka stepped up to cover the full cost of the jerseys in exchange for the ice hockey team to wear a subdued version of their logo on one shoulder of the jerseys.

The team victoriously ended the 2017-2018 season undefeated, winning all ten regular season games and taking home the Division 3 East Coast Showdown Title. Over the course of the season, they scored an average of 8.2 goals per game, giving up only 1.7 goals per game. Zurka would like to think the new jerseys helped in some small way with their successful season.
